Autumn is here, taking big steps, in a hurry to meet winter. All golden and brown, joyful or depressing, depending on whether you love it or not. With every new season, we get new rules on what to wear and what’s outdated. People in the fashion industry have no mercy for our appreciations or wallets, so let’s see what they recommend for the upcoming season and then we’ll decide if we agree or not.
Logomania is back. In our opinion, this is (not just) a bit tacky, but designers such as Burberry, Fendi, Louis Vuitton aren’t giving up on their recognizable prints and logos. If you’re a millennial, you can get away with having logos all over you, but if not – please don’t be a hill-billy. Leave labels where they belong – inside your clothes. Cartoon characters on t-shirts may look cute if you’re 20 and something. If you’re 30+ or 40+ we kindly hope you are not in a desperate battle to regain your youth, so… just don’t. Please don’t.
Leather is all over the place. We recommend you invest your money in a nice leather belt and jacket that you’ll wear for many years. Color is optional, but all shades of brown are a big hit this season. Leather coats as seen on the runway could be a bit eccentric for a day in a city, but if you like it – why not?
Checks and stripes never go out of style. Fabrics with these prints always look modern or elegant. We recommend you buy a shirt or pair of trousers that you’ll wear for years.
Hiking boots or military boots are also a must have this autumn/winter. They have made a big comeback and we don’t need to explain why. They are warm, water resistant and look good.
Jeans. Ah, jeans are always an irreplaceable wardrobe staple and literally a must have, not just for autumn but for all times. We suggest you avoid bleached and ripped models, leave them for spring or summer (if you don’t want to freeze to death) and for the upcoming season choose darker tones. The model is up to you. Skinny or classic fit, everything is allowed. Read more about jeans in our article from this summer here.
Fur coats. According to big names in the fashion industry, fur is no more reserved just for ladies. They suggest men should wear it too. We are strongly against animal cruelty, so we can’t agree with them. There are other pieces that can keep you warm, such as wool coats or simply faux shearling, if you insist.
Hats (caps) are making their comeback too. Some of us wear them every winter, regardless of fashion trends, but this season you can be warm and trendy, just find a model that suits you.
So what to wear this fall?
Whether you decide to buy new pieces of clothing or not, have one thing in mind – even the fanciest outfits won’t look good on you without a smile and self-confidence, so smile and choose wisely. If you are planning to visit a shopping mall – focus on something brown and you won’t go wrong – just a little tip from us.
