Polestar 1 – Concept Coupe?
As we promised just a couple a days ago, we are bringing you the story about the Volvo Concept Coupe. OK, maybe you are asking yourself now if this article is about Concept Coupe or Polestar 1? The answer is simple. It is the same car. The Concept Coupe is the first of a series of three concept cars that Volvo released in 2013. The design of the Concept Coupe was absolutely astonishing. Many petrolheads turn their heads towards this revolutionary design at the time. But at that time Volvo had other plans, mostly with restructuring their company both financially and structurally.
Now, after the successful transition, Polestar, Volvo’s official performance car company and brand, is bringing Polestar 1. The car that incredibly resembles the Concept Coupe from 2013.
Both cars are sport style two-door coupés. As a result, this electric is based on a shortened version of Volvo’s SPA platform. Almost all parts of the car’s upper body are made of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) for maximum stiffness, torsional rigidity and lightness.
Polestar will deliver four engines, and the one that we all are looking at is 600-HP, electric and petrol combined.
Finally, Polestar 1 will sell for $155,000 in the US. Production is set for 2019 while hitting the streets is expected globally in 2020.
