The Joker is a fictional character that unlike many other villains possesses no superhuman abilities. He has expertise in chemical engineering and a brilliant criminal mastermind. Widely considered as one of the most recognizable and most iconic fictional characters in popular culture.
In case you missed it, Joker is very well known as the archenemy of Batman. He was first introduced and published by DC Comics in Batman #1 in 1940 and has remained consistently popular to date. He started out as a gangster who accidentally fell into a vat of chemicals during a fight with the Batman and turned into the Joker. Unpredictable, violent and incredibly dangerous, The Joker is chaos personified in one character that constantly tries to destroy The Dark Knight. And Gotham city as well.
The clown prince of crime, as DC called him in one of their comics, is coming to theaters next year and Joaquin Phoenix will be playing the Joker. Warner Bros. is actually taking on a standalone Joker film. So far we had Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Jared Leto starring in the role of the prince of crime. We believe that Joaquin will find a way to revive Joker like no other actor did before. He has the ability to do this in the most charming, charismatic and psychotic way.
This movie has the potential to be more an adult-rated and a serious crime movie. After all, Joker is definitely the best comic book villain and one of the greatest villains of all time. And Joaquim knows how to portrait an unusual and strong persona with character.
Here is what he said about the upcoming role.
“I think, underneath the excitement of these superhero films, there are these incredible characters. They are dealing with real life struggles. And sometimes that is uncovered and exposed, and sometimes it isn’t. And so I always felt, like, there were characters in comics that were really interesting and deserve the opportunity to be kind of studied”.
Warner Bros. has set October 4, 2019, release date for the movie. Until then we will have to settle with a couple of DC comics in our hands.
