First, congrats on your upcoming release of “Divorce Bait.” How did you get involved with this project?Justin: I am the self-submitting king in Hollywood. Meaning I don’t have a theatrical agent and found the breakdown for Divorce Bait on Actors Access. I thought I would be perfect for the role of Marco Laguna, so I submitted my headshot and reels. I was asked to film a self-tape audition, and then I had a Zoom callback and booked the role.TM: When and where was “Divorce Bait” filmed?Justin: It was primarily filmed in Porter Ranch, a suburban neighborhood in Los Angeles. However, we did have one scene in DTLA as well.TM: What was it like working with Vannessa Vasquez?Justin: That Latina firecracker is a blast to work with! She is funny, sensitive, and not afraid to try anything on camera. Her energy was great during filming and in between takes. At first glance, you might think, just another gorgeous face in Hollywood, but she has the acting goods and fantastic comedic timing. What I like the most about working with her is when watching the movie, we both pulled off feeling like a real married couple who is in love but experiencing their first major hiccup.TM: Do you have any memorable moments from filming?Justin: Without giving too much away, it was the “POOL PARTY” scene. The ensemble in this movie was fantastic. The extras also added so much to this scene as well. The improvisational skills of my two side kicks in the film, Joseph Nunez and Greg Roman, cracked me up in almost all scenes, especially the pool party scene.TM: Did you take any souvenirs from the set?Justin: Yes, my dinner jacket in the dinner scene with Vannessa. The director, Patrick Perez Vidauri, was kind enough to let me keep it. The jacket has made it into other movies and commercials since.TM: What do you love most about acting? Who has been influential in your career?Justin: When I can show a scene or audition to my family and friends, and they can’t recognize me, meaning I have changed into someone else. To disappear into a character is exhilarating. I don’t have any actors on who I base my acting style; there are so many actors who I love to watch as they disappear into their characters; most recently would be Steve Carell, the man who can laugh and cry within two lines, pure definition of range. And Kelly Reilly, in her portrayal of Beth Dutton in Yellowstone, she runs the gamut of pure evil to a fragile victim in a 5-minute scene; it’s almost unheard of.TM: Are there any particular projects you’d like to get involved with in the future?Justin: There are two shows I would love to be a part of, “The Chosen” and “Yellowstone.”TM: Do you ever adopt a fashion style for courting new roles?Justin: Never. I might have to get certain roles, but I am always of the opinion that if they can see me as the character through my acting, then they can dress me later.TM: What other projects do you have coming out soon?Justin: On December 9th, I have Divorce Bait coming out in theaters, digital, and VOD. On the same day, my Lifetime movie “Secrets in the Building” will be on the Lifetime channel. There are also two other Lifetime movies I have already filmed that should be released next year.Follow Justin Berti on Instagram hereYou can follow The MAN magazine on Instagram hereYou might also like:Share This 2 months ago
