Wherever you go, there are numerous vineyards on both sides of the road, so it's immediately clear why Tuscany is one of the most popular wine regions in the world. The wine produced in Tuscany is world-famous. Perhaps you heard for some of them - Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano to name a few. More than 80 percent of wine production here is made up of red wines. The main variety is Sangiovese, which occurs in various local versions and taste. Sangiovese is a red Italian wine grape variety that got its name from the Latin sanguis Jovis, "the blood of Jupiter".
Furthermore, Tuscany capital, Florence, is home to some of the world’s most recognizable Renaissance art, design and architecture. You should definitely experience the masterpieces of Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, Machiavelli in Florence, the famous central square where the "Palio di Siena" - horse race occurred, famous towers in San Gimignano, the famous town of Lucca and many more attractions to visit.
Seven Tuscany localities have been designated World Heritage Sites. The historic centre of Florence (1982); the Cathedral square of Pisa (1987); the historical centre of San Gimignano (1990); the historical centre of Siena (1995); the historical centre of Pienza (1996); the Val d'Orcia (2004), and the Medici Villas and Gardens (2013).
