Casa Ojalá, Futuristic Transportable Home

Prototype for a flexible home

Young Italian architect Beatrice Bonzanigo presented the design of the adaptable and transportable home named ‘Casa Ojalá’ at the 2019 A’ Design Award & Competition. She won a Gold A’ Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award with this beautiful concept.

Beatrice showed the world another perspective of living along with nature. This transportable home is designed with a mechanical system of ropes, pulleys, and cranks. It’s available with amazing 1000 configurations. As the designer stated, Casa Ojalá is inspired by the nautical world that allows its inhabitants to effortlessly modify the configuration to their desires by opening and concealing walls, floor and ceiling tiles, and furniture…

This small 27-square-meter home is a perfect modular resort for coexistence with nature. In fact, its wooden structure can open and close its walls and ceilings in order to provide its guests the opportunity to absorb all the energy of the location. Casa Ojalá is definitely designed with forward-looking creativity.

The flexibility of the space is made possible thanks to the innovative solution of sliding walls. They are made in two different materials: fabric and wood. ‘Visuals to the outdoor can always change too, deciding which external wall to roll up. There are two layers of external walls – one in wood, one in fabric – so one can decide the type of wall to have. Every five minutes, everything can change,’ designer Bonzanigo said.

Although quite compact, Casa Ojalá brings all the luxury of a hotel room with two sleeping compartments, a bathroom and a lounge. Its roof is equipped with a beautiful elevated terrace. Casa Ojalá is also equipped with self-sustaining power and water systems, so it can be installed in virtually any part of the world. It does sound tempting, isn’t it?
